Both make a whiteboard easier to see on a video call. Only one turns the board into digital content that is readable on every screen, searchable afterwards, accessible to every student — and does it with the lowest barrier to entry in the category.

THE SHORT VERSION
Six differences that decide the choice.
A camera appliance vs a software platform
Scribe solves one problem with one device: getting a cleaner picture of one whiteboard into one video call. ShareTheBoard is a platform that turns any board, in any room, into live digital content on every screen — using the cameras and laptops you already have.
An enhanced image vs real digital content
Scribe sends pixels. ShareTheBoard reconstructs strokes, so remote viewers can zoom in 8×, read fine detail, copy transcribed text and keep the board legible on a phone.
A live feed vs a permanent record
When a Scribe-equipped board is wiped, the content is gone. Board Memory saves every board state automatically and timestamps it against the session.
One shared view vs a view per person
A single camera feed is the same for everyone. With ShareTheBoard each viewer controls zoom, contrast and pace on their own device — the difference between a nice-to-have and an accessibility provision.
Fixed firmware vs improving AI
Hardware capability is fixed at purchase and eventually discontinued. Software capability grows: transcription, overlay and bring-your-own-model options arrive without touching the room.
Per-room capex vs low monthly software cost
Scribe needs a unit, a mount and cabling per room. ShareTheBoard starts at a few dollars a month with any 1080p camera and a laptop with a dedicated GPU. If you want a dedicated hardware option, STBox compares favourably on cost and capability.
Scribe is a dedicated camera appliance mounted above the board. ShareTheBoard works with any 1080p camera — even a basic webcam — and a standard laptop with a dedicated GPU.
Scribe is tuned for a single whiteboard within a fixed field of view. ShareTheBoard handles whiteboards, blackboards, glass, flipcharts and multi-board walls.
Scribe is designed for a single whiteboard in a meeting room. A lecture hall has wide boards, long sightlines and students at the back who cannot read what is written.
Multi-board walls covered without a device per board
Every student zooms in on their own laptop or phone
Boards archived automatically for revision
Recordings stay legible after the lecture
Low barrier to entry
Whatever the room, the starting point is the same: any 1080p camera and a laptop with a dedicated GPU. No expensive capture appliance, no mount, no re-cabling. For a permanent, zero-touch setup, add STBox and compare its cost and capability.
“Students at the back stopped asking me to repeat what was on the board — they just zoom in on their own screens.”

“We compared a camera-based capture device with ShareTheBoard. The difference was what we still had after the lecture.”

QUESTIONS WE GET
Before you decide.
Does ShareTheBoard replace Logitech Scribe?
It replaces the need for it. ShareTheBoard delivers the board to remote participants using a common 1080p camera and a laptop with a dedicated GPU, so the barrier to entry is much lower. If Scribe is already installed, ShareTheBoard can also take its output as a video source.
What hardware do we need to get started?
ShareTheBoard runs on any 1080p camera — even an inexpensive webcam — and a standard laptop with a dedicated GPU. No dedicated capture appliance is required. If you prefer a plug-and-play hardware option for permanent rooms, STBox is an optional appliance that compares favourably on cost and capability.
Is the board readable on a phone?
Yes. Because the board is digitised rather than streamed as a photo, viewers can zoom up to 8× and the strokes stay sharp on small screens.
What happens when the board is erased?
Board Memory has already saved it. Each board state is archived and timestamped against the session, so nothing is lost when the teacher wipes and continues.
How does this affect privacy?
The board is the subject of the capture, not the people in the room. Sessions are encrypted, access is permissioned, and retention follows your own policy — including on-premise deployment where required.
Can it work with our existing conferencing and LMS stack?
Yes. ShareTheBoard appears as a virtual camera in any conferencing tool and can also deliver the board directly to browsers, personal devices and LMS platforms.
