How It Works

ShareTheBoard turns an ordinary camera pointed at your whiteboard into a live, glare-free, readable image on every screen. Here is exactly how it works, step by step.

Board, camera and clean legible image on screen — how ShareTheBoard works

Step One: Room Setup

Everything starts with the room you already have. No refit, no new board — just a computer, a camera and the surface you write on.

  1. 1

    Any computer

ShareTheBoard is software, so it runs on the machine that is already in the room: a teacher's laptop, the lectern PC, or our plug-and-play STBox if the room has no computer. You open it in the browser, sign in, and you are ready — nothing is installed on the board itself.

  2. 2

    Any camera

Any camera can see the board: a whiteboard camera, a USB camera on a celling mount, a PTZ room camera. It needs to be centred but the software corrects the angle, removes glare and reflections, and keeps the writing legible even when the light is bad.

  3. 3

    Any surface

You keep writing the way you always have. Whiteboards, blackboards, glass walls, flipcharts, even paper on a desk all work, with ordinary markers and chalk. There are no sensors, no smart displays and no special pens to buy — the surface you already own is the surface we capture.

Step Two: Share The Board

Once the camera sees the board, ShareTheBoard cleans up the image in real time and puts it where people are looking. There are two ways to share it.

Board View

Board View sends a live, cleaned-up image of the board to every screen — student laptops, tablets and phones in the room, or the video call for anyone joining from home. Whoever is sitting at the back, has low vision, or is watching remotely gets the same front-row view, and can zoom in on it themselves.

Content Overlay

Content Overlay blends your handwriting on top of your camera image in one clear picture, which you can share into Teams, Zoom or Meet like any other window. Remote students see your face and your explanation together, so the annotation always stays connected to what it refers to.

Step Three: Extend the Impact

The lesson does not have to end when the board is wiped. What happened on the board can be saved, revisited and delivered automatically to the systems you already use.

Board Memory

Board Memory keeps a clean, time-stamped record of everything written during the session, in the order it appeared. Instead of photographing the board before it is wiped, students scroll back through the lesson at their own pace — ideal for revision, for catching up after an absence, or for anyone who needs more time to process.

Automate and integrate

Sessions can start, record, name and publish themselves on a schedule, so teachers focus on teaching instead of clicking through setup. And because ShareTheBoard works with your LMS, lecture capture platform and AV systems, the captured boards land where staff and students already look for their materials.
